EPA Scraps $1.7 Billion Worth Of DEI And Environmental Justice Grants

Environmental Protection Agency administrator Lee Zeldin joined social media on Monday and announced cancellations of over 400 Diversity, Equality, Inclusion (DEI) and Environmental Justice Grants.

Zeldin posted on X, previously known as Twitter, and declared the end of these initiatives. The cuts span nine grant programs, earning a total of $1.7 billion in savings. The move by the EPA will bring the agency’s total savings to over $2 billion.

“I have cancelled over 400 DEI and environmental justice grants, and will have a total savings of over $2 billion for @EPA across nine grant programs totaling $1.7 billion,” Zeldin said. I wrote it. “This fourth round of EPA/@Doge Cuts was the biggest ever.”

Since the start of the second term, President Donald Trump has begun substantial cuts to DEI initiatives at American schools and federal agencies. Trump has enacted it Presidential Order On January 20th, he eliminated what he described as a “vain” diversity effort, calling these programs the “immorality” of order itself. Parents who advocate for education published a report in December, revealing that more than $1 billion has been wasted by the Department of Education on DEI grants for K-12 schools under previous administrations. Amidst declining student performance, the government allocated large amounts of funds to ideological adoption and indoctrination. This includes nearly $490 million in race-based recruitment and training, $343 million in DEI programming and youth activities, and $169 million in DEI mental health training.

Government Efficiency (DOGE) announcement In February X, 89 contracts worth $881 million were terminated, but did not specify which contracts were cut. Another thing postthe agency confirmed the end of 29 DEI training grants totaling $101 million.

A few days later, doge announcement $600 million reductions to DEI training programs for teachers. The cancelled initiatives included programs that encouraged “bearing personal and institutional responsibility for systematic inequality” and programs that trained educators who challenged perceived racial bias.
