ESPN Drops An Actual Musical To Promote Peyton And Eli’s ‘Manningcast,’ And It’s Shockingly Pretty Good

Who knew I'd become such a fan of musicals?

ESPN's “Manningcast” is a favorite of many football fans, and to celebrate its popularity and the show's return for another season, the four-letter network produced a 10-minute musical. Yes, a real musical, and I'll be honest, it was worth every second of watching.

First off, if you don’t know what a “Manning cast” is, how can you help? (RELATED: Lions' Dan Campbell creates not one but two epic commercials for Applebee's)

The second will be a “Monday Night Football” broadcast hosted by NFL legends brothers Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, which will also feature in-game commentary from the brothers and guest commentary. The show is produced by ESPN and Peyton's Omaha Productions.

Brought to you by ESPN, the musical (which is basically a 10-minute ad) begins with Peyton and Eli aiming for a Tony Award for the success of “Manningcast.” This prompts Peyton to call Disney CEO Bob Iger to pitch “Manningcast: The Musical” in an attempt to win the coveted trophy.

In the end, Iger caved and the Munnings brothers put on a great show, complete with a ton of special cameos.

When I first came across this, my initial reaction was to immediately ignore it and scream, “Ugh!”

So how on earth did I end up liking all of this after the fact?
