Evening winds continue with cooler temperatures

Yuma, Arizona (KYMA, KECY-TV) – A low pressure system is concentrated in central California, keeping the southwestern desert areas windy and cooler than normal.

Strong winds with gusts of up to 25-35 mph are expected through the rest of the afternoon and into the evening, with even stronger winds expected in Imperial County.

A wind advisory is in effect for the southwestern corner of Imperial County, including Ocotillo, and gusty winds are expected into the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Daytime highs will stay in the mid to high 90s most days, so expect cooler-than-normal temperatures for the rest of the week.

A continuous discharge from the Painted Rock Dam continues down the Gila River through Yuma County.

Flood warnings along the Gila River between the Painted Rock Dam and the Colorado River have been extended until at least June 13.
