Ex-Labor Sec Nominee Says Those Who Follow Dems’ Economic ‘Talking Points’ Don’t ‘Deserve’ Credibility

Former Labor Secretary nominee Andy Puzder said on Fox Business on Friday after President Joe Biden announced billions of dollars in spending through the Inflation Control Act (IRA) that anyone who “listens” to Democrats' economic policy talking points “can't be trusted.”

“They should have called it the Inflation Revitalization Act. I mean, no matter what the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania says, inflation wasn't reduced at all. When the government spends that much money, inflation goes up. And that's exactly what happened with the so-called Inflation Control Act and the so-called American Recovery Act. Harris voted with the bill. I think Joe Biden thought, 'Enough now, I'm out of here. They got me out of the way. I'd better tell the truth about some things,'” Puzder said.

“Anyone who takes Democrats' economic narrative seriously is not trustworthy. I don't believe what these people are saying about the economy,” Puzder said. “Trust your wallet. Trust the prices. Don't trust these people.”

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the number of manufacturing employees fell by 24,000 in August, despite the Biden administration's efforts to boost the industry with billions of dollars in subsidies. The IRA and Semiconductor and Science Act were passed in August 2022, allocating more than $400 billion to manufacturing, but the sector has only grown by 0.3%.

Vice President Kamala Harris has also faced backlash after she unveiled her economic plan last month, which focused on a federal ban on companies “price gouging” to address high grocery store prices. Political commentators on both sides of the aisle have warned that the plan could not only drive up store prices but also create a black market.
