Ex-Navy SEAL announces candidacy for U.S. Senate

Jared Hudson, a former US Navy Seal from Alabama, has officially kicked off his campaign to become the next senator for the state. He currently resides in Birmingham with his family and leads the Covenant Rescue Group, an organization that combats human trafficking.

In a recent announcement shared via video on X, Hudson outlined his reasons for running and what makes him a suitable candidate.

“I think what really sets me apart is that I’m not a career politician,” he noted. “The issue with professional politicians is that they tend to pursue their ambitions rather than serve the community. My focus is on service—service to the people of Alabama. I aim to represent you in Washington, DC, without bringing back the complications of DC into Alabama.”

Additional details about Hudson’s background can be found on his campaign website. His commitment to service is evident from his work with the Seal Team and his current mission to assist trafficking victims.

“From my time with the Navy SEALs to aiding trafficking victims, my life has been dedicated to service,” he remarked. “The radical left is out to undermine our core values, weaken our borders, and diminish America’s greatness.”

This week, Hudson joined host Phil Williams on a talk radio show, where they discussed not just the campaign but also the significance of faith in his life.

“You must remember your identity as a man of Jesus Christ,” Hudson stated. “That’s what truly endures, right?”

“Even if I were to die now, my impact would remain. My influence touches my wife and daughters, perhaps even some of the Seal teams I’ve engaged with.”

Hudson reflected on the value of having personal principles, especially during tough times.

“Every warrior throughout history has had their own mantras—something to hold onto,” he explained. “What can you cling to? If you have something other than the pain, whether it’s the cold, heart pounding, or other struggles, holding onto certain beliefs can help you persevere.”

Previously, Hudson ran for Jefferson County Sheriff in 2022.

The primary election for the open US Senate seat is set for May 19, 2026.
