A former teacher and athletic trainer at Tanque Verde High School who was arrested in 2019 for allegedly having sex with a minor was sentenced to prison last week.
William Yeo was sentenced to a minimum of four years in prison on July 10 by Pima County Superior Court Judge Kelly Johnson. Court records show Yeo was found guilty of having sex with a minor while in a position of trust.
Yeo was also convicted a second time of having sex with a minor in a trusted position and was sentenced to a minimum of four years in prison. both sentences at the same time.
In addition to a prison sentence, Yeo will be sentenced to community supervision and must register as a sex offender, according to court records.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested Yeo in 2019 and began exchanging “nude photos” with minors in 2018, the Arizona Daily Star previously reported. According to an interlocutory complaint filed with the Pima County Court of Justice, the two had sex at Yeo’s apartment and once at school.

The Tanque Verde Unified School District said in an earlier statement that it contacted the Sheriff’s Department after a local resident raised concerns about a high school teacher with district officials, The Star reported.
