When voters in battleground states across the country hear about Project 2025, they like many of its ideas, according to a new poll obtained by The Daily Caller.
Democrats have tried to link Project 2025 to former President Donald Trump and have heavily criticized the ideas in it, but figures like President Joe Biden To tell It would “destroy America,” but a poll conducted by nonpartisan polling firm RMG Research for the Heritage Foundation found that voters in battleground states actually like many of the ideas proposed by Project 2025.
The poll was conducted July 23-24 among voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Nevada.
Some of the policy issues that were popular among these voters were:
- The marriage penalty in the US tax code means that many people who live together as a couple have to pay higher taxes when they get married. Do you support or oppose abolishing the marriage penalty? – 49% in favor, 43% against
- Do you support or oppose requiring people who are physically able to work to find work in order to receive financial assistance from the government? – 79% support, 18% oppose
- Generally speaking, do school choice programs provide better educational opportunities for students? – 48% Yes, 24% No
- Do you support or oppose an education savings account program that would allow parents to use tax money to send their children to the school of their choice? – 65% in favor, 23% against
- Should people who are biologically male but identify as female be allowed to participate in women's sports? – 75% opposed, 12% in favor
- Should teachers and schools have to notify a student's parents if the student wants to change gender, name, or pronouns? – 69% in favor, 21% against
- Should it be illegal to provide puberty suppressants, drugs, or surgeries to children under 18 to help them transition? – 71% in favor, 22% against
- Should public schools teach young children that biological boys can become girls and biological girls can become boys? – 73% disagree, 16% agree
- How important is securing the southern border of the United States? – 62% very important, 27% somewhat important, 89% total important
- There is a proposal to require all companies to verify that their employees are legally residing in the U.S. Do you support or oppose this proposal? – 82% support (57% strongly support), 15% oppose
- A proposal has been made to eliminate all funding for organizations that transport illegal immigrants into and across the U.S. Do you support or oppose this proposal? – 75% in favor (54% strongly in favor), 19% opposed
- A budget proposal has been put forward to end all government payments to illegal immigrants. Do you support or oppose this proposal? – 77% support (57% strongly support), 18% oppose.
“Our polling makes clear that majorities of Americans in key battleground states support the key policy proposals of Project 2025. Americans want common sense and normalcy to return to their daily lives,” Scott Rasmussen told the Caller.
The Heritage Foundation and Project 2025 have no affiliation with the Trump campaign, and while several former Trump administration staffers work on the project, it is not a Trump initiative. (RELATED: Exclusive: Heritage chairman reveals Trump-Project 2025 ties amid media frenzy)
Earlier this month, Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts revealed President Trump's connection to Project 2025 in an exclusive interview with The Caller, saying he “has a strong personal relationship with President Trump” and that he expects that relationship to continue. “Project 2025 is fundamentally reflective of the entire conservative movement,” Roberts said, “and it's in no way intended to speak for the presidential campaign. We wish President Trump continued great campaigning, and in fact, it's very important for his campaign's purposes and for us who lead nonprofits to be reminded of that distance.”
The poll was conducted online among 1,800 voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.3 percentage points.
