Sen. Roger Marshall, Republican of Kansas, defeated Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Tuesday night before introducing a resolution saying the U.S. Senate should have no confidence in Mayorkas. Ta.
In a statement to Kohler before he took to the Senate floor, Marshall said Mayorkas had lied under oath to Congress several times and said Mayorkas did not have “operational control” of the U.S. border. Marshall added that the Secretary of Homeland Security must be held accountable for his inaction on the ongoing border crisis.
“Secretary Mayorkas has repeatedly lied under oath to Congress, testifying that his DHS has “operational control'' of the border. All Americans can see for themselves that this statement by Mayorkas is categorically false and completely delusional,” Marshall told the Caller. “We are experiencing record numbers of illegal aliens crossing our borders, including terrorist suspects, Chinese nationals, and cartel members. must be held accountable for sworn lies that directly undermine the organization,” he continued. Marshall plans to introduce the resolution late Tuesday night and hopes it will pass unanimously.
Republicans have already begun impeachment proceedings against Mayorkas in the House of Representatives, with proceedings scheduled to begin on Wednesday. He has long been a target of Republican criticism as border crossers and illegal immigration arrests hit record highs under the Biden administration.
