Houston – Energy Secretary Chris Wright arrived at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo without a hat on Monday evening.
“I tried to send my boots, hats and jackets from DC, but I set it up for a day delivery four days ago and it didn’t arrive,” Wright lamented the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Wright headed to the Rodeo after an action-packed first day at Theraweek Energy Conference, where he gave a punchy keynote speech laying out the Trump administration’s approach to energy policy, otherwise kept busy with meetings throughout the day. Wright showed everyday Americans that they were his priorities when he attended the rodeo and pursuing the energy domination agenda with President Donald Trump, he explained to the DCNF. “Look, rodeo is the heart of America’s rural culture. It’s not our coastal culture, it’s the heart of the country,” Wright told DCNF. “And this is the president’s main constituency. This is the crowd I think most worried about seeing common sense return to the US government.”
One of Wright’s top tasks in his new gig is to attack drive electricity costs, largely with the Biden administration’s aggressive regulations on reliable, inexpensive energy generation and subsidies’ flooding. 2024 analysis Census Bureau data conducted by the Lending Tree estimated that about 34% of Americans over the age of 18 had to recoup their other necessary expenses to spend or skimp them to be able to pay their electricity bills at some point in the last 12 months. Of the highest percentage of 11 states recorded, eight are in the south.
“The US has seen electricity prices rise by more than 20% than the Biden administration, with little increase in demand, and cumulative demand growth rates of only 2%,” Wright told DCNF. “Now we are experiencing rapid growth in demand, and the course we were on is a train wreck.”
And while Democrats’ policies may have contributed to the surge in electricity prices that occur every day, Americans who withstand inflation (many of those present at the rodeo) said they are far more interested in promoting prosperity than partisan politics. One of the guidelines in Wright’s philosophy is that affordable energy is an important economic resource and, therefore, one of the key elements for human prosperity.
“This president has been elected to cut costs and provide energy access to all Americans, Red State, Blue State, Republicans, Democrats and independents. He doesn’t care,” Wright told DCNF. “President Trump’s constituency is American, and many millions pay incredibly high prices for heating, electricity, and it’s simply wrong to not be able to build a new manufacturing industry in their area. I think President Trump is saying, “All is enough.” ” (Related: “It’s hilarious”: Energy Secretary relaxed when asked about gas prices rise)

As rodeo fans strolled around the grounds with the stadium on fire, Wright and his aides meandered through the huge market in an on-site warehouse, wearing hats and sized boots so that nearby vendors would wear hats and serve chicken sandwiches.
The lights were kept in the crowd with brown boots, blue jeans, a hidden white shirt and a light jacket with no explanation. The only missing piece was the classic cowboy hat. He dealt with it by purchasing from the warehouse storefront.
The new hat was a good purchase for Wright, considering he would lead a “magnificent entry” or a ceremony marking the beginning of a rodeo in just a second. Wright and other special guests prepared behind the scenes for the epic entry, but the Energy Secretary bumped into DJ Daniel, one of America’s newest and most well-known Secret Service agents. The 13-year-old cancer survivor and aspiring law enforcement officer were recognized by President Donald Trump in his March 4 speech to Congress.
Wright mounted his horse and ran out towards the rodeo infield to lead an epic entry, stirring his hat, tilting his hat, praised his hat as he proudly waved it with another rider leading the column alongside him.
“These are my people,” Wright told DCNF.
