While President Donald Trump’s administration plans to freeze a $510 million grant to Brown University, it also reviews the agency’s response to anti-Semitism and its potential diversity, equity and inclusion policies, daily callers have learned.
Trump’s Education Department in February I warned Sixty institutions, including Brown University, will take action if they “do not fulfill their obligations under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act to Protect Jewish Students on Campus.” A previous federal civil rights investigation into schools has led Brown to “currently subject to continuous surveillance” following a previous agreement with the Department of Education.
The funds will be suspended during federal review. This, like previous administration actions this week, is freeze funds during the investigation while it freezes funds at Princeton University, administration officials told callers. “The agency is extremely disappointed that Jewish students studying on elite US campuses continue to fear safety amid more than a year of ruthless anti-Semitic eruptions that have disrupted campus life so badly.
“U.S. universities and universities benefit from the enormous public investment funded by US taxpayers. That support is a privilege and conditional on strict compliance with the federal anti-differentiation law,” she continues.

Brown is the latest institution to raise funds for the administration’s freeze. On Monday, the administration suspended $210 million in funding at Princeton University as it investigates anti-Semitism on its official campus. I said Caller.
The investigation opened when Princeton returned to Biden was opened. Biden’s Department of Education began its investigation in 2024 after a civil rights complaint from Zachary Marshcholl, editor of conservative website campus reform. Marschall claims in his complaint that the university has failed to respond to campus anti-Semitism. The complaint alleges that on October 25, 2023, students recited “brick bricks, wall walls and apartheid must fall” on a strike in support of Palestine.

Administrators recently subtracted around $175,000,000 from the University of Pennsylvania (UPEN) after allowing men to compete in women’s sports. Similarly, administrators have withdrawn $400 million in federal funds from Columbia University, and have since led to some of the ED requests related to how schools handle anti-Semitism complaints on campus.
