According to Atlanta News First, Lin's grandfather's car was traveling about 70 mph and carrying a boat at the time of the crash, and the boy's family said his experience on the farm allowed him to take over.

According to the media, Lin called 911 after parking her truck on the side of the road. “Hey, my grandpa's got diabetes! I pulled over! I pulled over on the side of the road, can you hear me?! … Exit 320, right by exit 320!” Lin told the 911 dispatcher, according to the media.

“So many thoughts are running through your mind: 'What's going to happen? Am I going to have an accident?' But it worked out perfectly,” Lin told the outlet.

“I was absolutely blown away. This is probably one of the most moving calls I've seen since I've worked at 911,” Corporal Matthew Holder of the Golden County Sheriff's Office (GCSO), who responded to the 911 call, was quoted as saying.

“What an incredible young man who kept himself and his grandfather safe from a dangerous situation,” GCSO Sheriff Mitch Ralston told the outlet.

The Gordon County Sheriff's Office presented Drake with a citizen service award on Wednesday, along with “an Atlanta Braves cap and shirt and four tickets to a Braves game,” the office said in a press statement on Facebook. The Gordon County Sheriff's Office noted the boy was 11 years old.

In his citation, Sheriff Ralston said Drake “demonstrated courage, resourcefulness and the qualities of a good citizen.”
