Family of Yuma teen Jacob Sims calls for justice as memorial service approaches

Yuma, Arizona (Keema, Keese) – The family of Uma Sims, who was tragically murdered in November, is still upset by the loss of their loved ones as they continue their fight for justice.

Sims’ body was found in a fireplace at Que Can Reservation in Winter Haven, California. As the case remains unsolved, his family and friends continue to keep his memory alive, urging the person in charge to take responsibility.

To celebrate Jacob’s life, it will be held on Saturday, January 25th from 1pm to 3pm at Desert Valley Funeral in Summerton, Arizona.

This service provides space for loved ones to sadden and celebrate the young man who left an indelible mark in the hearts of everyone who knows him. His family invites the community to come together and come together to remember Jacob and his legacy.

Jacob Sims was a son, brother, friend and athlete who loved the incredible outdoors, BMX riding, skateboarding and hockey playing. People who knew him described him as a kind and energetic young man who would do anything for his friends and family.

His grandmother, Jencia Sims, raised Jacob as his own since he was a baby, and described him as a “beautiful soul” with an infectious smile.

“He had this smile, you could feel his smile, his laugh, his heart was so huge,” Jenia said. “He was this amazing person.”

One of Jacob’s “friend Tyler Cruzel, who thinks he is the best man he has known, expresses his pain at the pointless loss.

“My best friend didn’t deserve this. I say he’s the best guy I know,” Tyler said, recalling their friendship.

For now, the case remains unresolved. There are people interested in the authorities, but no arrests have been made, leaving the family in a remote state. Jenia highlighted the emotional toll of ongoing uncertainty as she feels that her son’s death happened yesterday.

“Jacob deserves justice,” cried Jenia. “It’s still a cold case and I know that there are people who are interested in them, but there have been no arrests, so it feels like it happened yesterday.”

Family and friends are asking the community to provide information they may have. Jacob’s loved ones believe that there are people who know what happened and who needs to say.

“I know there are people who know things and need to talk about them,” Jenia continued. “Jacob deserves this, our family deserves this.”

She urged anyone with knowledge of crime to come forward, emphasizing that the perpetrators are still free to walk in the community, and perhaps even neighbors.

“These sleazy, terrifying people who did this to him are roaming our city,” Jenia said. “They may be your neighbors. We need people to say and say it.”

Additional service

As families continue to seek justice, they also focus on celebrating Jacob’s life. The service ceremony gives loved ones the opportunity to reflect on his vibrant life and the positive impact he has had on those around him.

The service will be held at Desert Valley Funeral at 138 N. Avenue B in Summerton, Arizona. Visitation will take place from 1pm to 3pm, with Bible services beginning at 2pm.
