“Chicago Fire” actor Daniel Kiri claims he nearly died after accidentally drinking bleach while filming the reality show “Kid Nation,” People magazine reported.

Kiri was a child actor when the incident reportedly happened in 2007.

“What we weren't told was that the crew had to sanitize certain areas where we were eating and drinking, and they put bleach in bottles like soda bottles,” fellow contestant Olivia Cloer told VICE TV's “The Dark Side of Reality TV.” peopleKray reportedly recounted to VICE the terrifying moment he realized he'd swallowed bleach.

According to People magazine, Kiri told VICE that the incident happened “in the early hours” during filming.

“We're in charge of the bar, we're going to go in and get the morning started right,” he reportedly said, recalling the perilous moment.

“You get this little yellow liquid in your hand. It has a citrus scent. It smells like lemon, it smells fresh,” he claimed, according to People magazine.

He told VICE it quickly became clear that what he had been drinking was not a fruity drink, the outlet reported.

Kiri reportedly recalled, “My jaw dropped and it was just gulp, gulp, gulp.”

He told VICE he knew immediately something was wrong, People magazine reported.

“And when it burns and smoke rises, it cuts off the oxygen and you can't breathe,” he reportedly claimed.

According to People magazine, the young actor told VICE that he had no idea what he'd done, but was immediately overcome with pure terror.

“Someone grabbed the bottle and she took a sniff,” he reportedly said.
