Aubrey Plaza has broken her silence on the sudden death of her husband, director Jeff Baena.
Plaza first publicly commented on the death on January 6, just three days after his tragic death at the age of 47. Plaza called it an “unimaginable tragedy” in a statement. According to TMZ.
“We deeply appreciate everyone who has offered their support and please respect our privacy during this time,” Plaza and Baena’s families said in a statement. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Baena’s death a suicide. According to CBS News.

According to TMZ, police and fire departments responded to a call at 10:30 a.m. Friday after an assistant found Baena dead inside a home in the Los Angeles area. It has not been made public at this time how Baena took her own life.
Baena is a noted director and screenwriter whose credits include “I Heart Huckabees,” “Joshy,” “The Little Hours,” “Horse Girl” and “Spin Me Round.” His films were honored at the Sundance Film Festival several times during his career. Baena also created, wrote, produced and directed the Showtime series “Cinema Toast.”

Baena’s directorial debut was 2014’s Life After Beth, in which he co-starred Plaza.
The two got married in 2021.

Baena is leave behind wife Plaza, mother Barbara Stern, stepfather Roger Stern; He is survived by his father, Scott Baena, and stepmother, Michele Baena, as well as his brother, Brad Baena, and his sister and brother-in-law, Bianca Gabay and Jed Flaxman.
