Farmers Federation makes State Board of Education endorsements


The Alabama Farmers Federation's political action committee, Alabama Farm PAC, endorsed candidates for the Alabama State Board of Education.

County leaders of the state's largest agricultural organization have pledged support to incumbents Jackie Zeigler (R-Mobile) in the 1st District and Tonya Smith Chestnut (D-Selma) in the 5th District. Kelly Mooney, R-Indian Springs, won support in District 3. Meanwhile, Allen Long (R-Florence) was endorsed in the 7th District.

Federation President Jimmy Parnell said electing strong leadership to the State Board of Education is essential to Alabama's future.

“We have no greater responsibility than to educate our children and prepare them to be productive citizens,” Parnell said. “The Federation is committed to helping young people develop the knowledge, skills and character necessary for successful careers, which in turn benefits their families, communities and economies. The candidates recommended by county leaders to the State Board of Education have the background and dedication to helping children prepare for the future.
