Yuma, Arizona (azfamily) – Yuma’s father made a statement last week after the body of his 2-year-old son was found inside the house. That led to the arrest of the mother of a child and her boyfriend, currently facing murder charges.

Ethan Aguero said that despite weeks of working hard to meet her son, Cano Aguero, the boy’s mother, has become increasingly difficult to get in touch with Angelina Vazquez, the boy’s mother. He said the last time I saw Kano was in March.

Aguero says Vasquez’s boyfriend, 23-year-old Miguel Garcia, said he would eventually be allowed to see his son. Aguero says Garcia didn’t show up and knew something was wrong.

“Things weren’t summed up and he was making excuses,” Aguero said. Instead, police arrived at Aguero’s door later on Friday to inform him that Kano was missing. That same day, investigators discovered the body of a child in a nearby house. Near 24th Street and Vista Del Castillo Drive.

“I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t think Angelina or her boyfriend could do something like this,” he said.

According to Yuma Police Station, the discovery was made during welfare checks at the child’s home. Officers arrested Vazquez and Garcia. Both now face accusations of first-degree planned murder and abandonment or corpse concealment.

Aguero described Kano as a fun boy who loved everyone. He says the losses are devastating and he hopes Vasquez was hoping for help before things escalated.
