The father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was arrested Saturday ahead of his son's Feb. 11 Super Bowl appearance.
Patrick Mahomes Sr., 53, was arrested in Tyler, Texas, for at least his third DUI, jail records show. according to to the New York Post.

Mahomes Sr.'s arrest came eight days before his son was scheduled to play against the 49ers in Super Bowl III in Las Vegas. According to the newspaper, he was charged with a second DWI in 2018 and subsequently served a 40-year prison sentence on weekends in 2019 and 2020.
Mahomes Sr. attended a Chiefs playoff game this year to cheer on his son, the newspaper reported. Mahomes Sr. also sat down with Taylor Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, during the season, he said. WFA. But he denied rumors that he was the man seen in the photo with his arms crossed and making faces at Swift, claiming he was “actually two booths down,” according to the paper.

The quarterback's father was seen smoking a cigar when the Chiefs defeated the Eagles in Super Bowl LII in Glendale, Arizona. According to the paper, Mahomes Sr. played 11 seasons in MLB and was a pitcher for the Mets in the 1999 and 2000 seasons. He divorced Randy, his ex-wife and mother of the Chiefs quarterback, in 2006.
