Adams was subpoenaed in July as part of a federal investigation into possible collusion between the mayor and the Turkish government, but Wednesday's search is not believed to be related to that investigation, according to Politico.

According to Politico, the mayor's lawyer emphasized that he is cooperating with the investigation and that no wrongdoing has yet been alleged.

“Investigators have not indicated that the mayor or his staff are the targets of the investigation,” Adams' chief counsel, Lisa Zornberg, said in a statement to Politico. “As a former member of law enforcement, the mayor has repeatedly made clear that everyone on his team must follow the law.”

The Southern District of New York declined to comment. Adams' office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
