WWE star John Cena has revealed what it's really like to film a sex scene, saying it's not as titillating as some might think.
Cena, a 13-time WWE Champion and three-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, appeared on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast with Shannon Sharpe on August 21 to talk about his experience behind the scenes of Amy Schumer's “Trainwreck.” Cena told Sharpe that the titillating scenes that made it into the final cut were far from sexy to the actors involved.
“I came to understand, 'This is who I am. I'm going to work hard every day and do my best. It doesn't matter, I don't care, just let me do it,'” Cena said, explaining how he came to terms with the awkward NSFW scenes he was required to do on set.
Cena explained what his experience was like, noting that even during the podcast, the audience only sees him and Sharpe, but their perspectives are very different.
“You guys would think we were the only ones home right now,” Cena said. “It's a whole other world out there!” he exclaimed, gesturing around him.
The wrestling star then summed up filming the sex scene.
“We started off with practice, it was like a closed set,” he said. Then things got real.

“It just takes a lot of people to make a movie,” Cena said.
“There's nothing intimate about it, so it's really embarrassing,” he admitted.
Cena said it was difficult to meet the expectations of the sex scenes.

“And on top of that they have to do a comedy sex scene where they literally try to make the sex as awkward as possible, like they're making fun of themselves,” he exclaimed. (Related article: Gina Gershon says sex scene with Tom Cruise took an unexpected turn.)
“And with an audience watching it, that's different,” he said.
“I don't want to say it's the worst, it's just not what you think it is,” Cena said.
