Federal prosecutors have secured an indictment against New York City's Democratic mayor, Eric Adams, The New York Times reported late Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Federal agents seized Adams' electronic devices on Nov. 10, 2023, days after agents raided the home of Adams' fundraising director to execute a search warrant. The FBI was investigating whether his campaign collaborated with the Turkish government and received illegal donations, Politico reported. Reported.
According to the media, Adams is said to have had close ties with Turkey since his time as Bronx borough president.
“I knew that standing up for the people of New York would make me a target, and I did,” Adams said in a statement, according to The New York Times. “If charged, I am innocent and will fight the charges with all my heart and soul.”
New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called on Adams to resign on Wednesday, citing the federal investigation, National Review reported. Reported.
“Continual investigations make it impossible to recruit and retain competent government staff,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “For the sake of the city, he should resign.”
