The DEA is focusing on suspects in the death of Matthew Perry and is preparing to file charges.
Federal investigators are investigating the untimely death of “Friends” actor Matthew Perry on Oct. 28, 2023, and are conducting searches and interviews. TMZA source familiar with the situation said they are “confident” there is enough evidence to take action against those who allegedly helped Perry obtain the ketamine that caused her death. Federal authorities are preparing to indict the suspects on charges of drug distribution resulting in death or serious injury, according to the source. According to TMZ, Perry was found dead in her hot tub at home after taking ketamine.

The DEA launched an investigation after the Los Angeles County coroner released the results of his investigation into the cause of the famous actor's death.
According to TMZ, if the suspects, who have not yet been named, are convicted of the charges the federal government is seeking to bring against them, they could face a minimum of 20 years in prison.

According to TMZ, a source familiar with the matter said the DEA is investigating drug trafficking and may also be targeting doctors who may have written prescriptions “that are deemed outside the scope of medical necessity.”
The investigation exposed Hollywood's drug scene, and as part of that investigation a search warrant was executed on Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, Brooke Mueller, who had publicly struggled with drug addiction for several years but whose connection to Perry's death has yet to be determined. According to TMZ, the team investigating Perry's death is made up of the same investigators who helped arrest the suspect in Mac Miller's fatal drug overdose.
