A 30-year-old man was arrested in Temecula and will face felony charges of sexually assaulting a victim, authorities said Thursday.
The alleged assault occurred just before 9pm on May 20 at block 44,000 of Pechanga Parkway.
When Riverside County Sheriff’s Department sheriffs arrived at the scene, the suspect, now identified as Joseph Edward Labastida of Temecula, had already fled the scene.
According to an RCSD news release, “The Southwestern Police Bureau of Investigation continues this investigation and has collected several leads from the community.”
On Thursday, Labastida was found near Temecula Parkway and La Paz Road and taken into custody. The 30-year-old was incarcerated at Coisbad Detention Center on a felony charge of sexual assault.
Authorities added that La Bastida is also wanted by Mojave County, Arizona, on sexual assault charges.
