At approximately 8:20 p.m. on July 2, 2023, officers from the Lake Havasu City Police Department were called in to a shooting at a residence 2800 blocks north of Palo Verde Boulevard.

Arriving officers observed the man lying on the floor inside the garage with an injured ankle, later determined to be a single gunshot wound. As officers walked toward the garage, they saw a woman carrying what looked like a black handgun enter the garage from her residence. The woman entered the garage and released the pistol she was carrying, after which she was quickly detained by police.

Detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division were dispatched to the scene to further investigate the incident. During the investigation, detectives determined that the man and woman were in a relationship and arguing when a woman identified as Kelly Davis, 39, of Lake Havasu, shot the man in the ankle. Two boys were also involved in the incident, but were later released by their families. The man, whose injuries are not life-threatening, was taken to the Havasu Regional Medical Center.

An investigation resulted in Kelly Davis being arrested on three counts of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct with a weapon. During his first court appearance, Davis was posted on $50,000 cash-only bail and transferred to the Mojave County Sheriff’s Office.
