Fetterman Supports Targeted Actions Against Hamas
Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman expressed his support for targeted operations against Hamas during an interview with Newsmax on Tuesday. He explicitly stated that he “absolutely” backs such actions happening globally.
The conversation took place as Israel conducted airstrikes targeting Hamas leadership. Fetterman spoke with Greta Van Susteren on her show, voicing strong support for Israel’s efforts to confront Hamas and endorsing the elimination of its operatives.
“I absolutely support the killing of Hamas where it occurs,” Fetterman remarked, emphasizing that it serves as a reminder to the world of Israel’s capability to strike wherever necessary. He added that he would “definitely celebrate” these actions.
Fetterman stated that Hamas and Hezbollah members should be pursued, no matter their location.
“I’ll take action against them if they are in Iran, Gaza, or if they were in Qatar recently. They’re all accountable, and I fully support this,” he said.
Earlier this year, Fetterman mentioned that he may have been the only Democrat to back Israeli military strikes against Hamas. He noted, “I believe I was the only Democrat supporting action against Iran’s nuclear threats.” He reaffirmed his commitment as a supporter of both Israel and the Democratic Party.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israeli Security Agency have initiated targeted strikes against key Hamas leaders responsible for the recent violence, notably those involved in orchestrating the October 7 attacks. While the identities of the casualties have not been disclosed, Israeli officials have indicated a intent to take down Khalil al-Hayya, a senior Hamas negotiator often found in Qatar.
On Tuesday, Israeli forces ordered Gaza’s residents to evacuate prior to a planned military operation, warning that remaining in the area would be “very dangerous.” They dropped leaflets advising civilians to move from the west to the south for their safety.
Recently, there has been increasing dissent among Democrats regarding Israel’s actions. For instance, Michigan Senator Rashida Tlaib criticized both the U.S. and Israel, labeling their actions in Gaza as genocide, and claiming they were using military might to inflict harm on innocent civilians.
