Today, Americans celebrate the birth of their new nation with fireworks, parades, concerts, family gatherings and barbecues, but the celebration dates back centuries before Independence Day was designated a federal holiday, which only took place in 1941.
The celebrations marking the birthday of King George III in the crucial summer of 1776, before the Revolution, Mock funeral As a symbolic departure from the throne.
It was an exciting time in Philadelphia: the Continental Congress voted for independence, and two days later, on July 4, the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the original 13 colonies: New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
The first Independence Day commemoration took place in Philadelphia on July 4, 1777, during the Revolutionary War. Fireworks have been a part of Independence Day celebrations ever since that first celebration in Philadelphia.
