Starting Jan. 1, 2025, the minimum wage in the city of Flagstaff will increase to $17.85 for all workers, and $16.85 for tipped workers.

On September 11, 2024, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures for August 2024. The CPI for August 2024 was 2.5% higher than August 2023. Accordingly, the minimum wage in the City of Flagstaff will increase to $17.85 per hour on January 1, 2025.

On November 8, 2016, voters in Flagstaff created and passed the Minimum Wage Ordinance (the “Ordinance”) as a citizen initiative (Proposition 414). The Ordinance, codified in Title 15 of the Flagstaff Municipal Code, provides that beginning in January 2023, Flagstaff’s minimum wage will increase annually in line with increases in the cost of living.

Based on this law,[t]The cost of living increase shall be measured as the percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index (all urban consumers, all items, U.S. city average) in the preceding August over its level in the preceding August” (15-01-001-0003(B)). The increase shall be rounded up to the nearest 0.05 dollar.

Flagstaff's minimum wage applies to all employees who work or are expected to work at least 25 hours within the city in any calendar year. For legal provisions regarding tipped employees, see Flagstaff City Code Section 15-01-001-0003(E).
