Flagstaff broadcaster Dave Zorn arrested on suspicion of luring a minor for sexual exploitation

Dave Zone, a radio station in Flagstaff, has been arrested on suspicion of luring minors for sexual exploitation.

He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond at the Coconino County Detention Facility.

Zorn has worked on radio for 30 years and is a familiar voice in northern Arizona as news director for Kaff News. He is active on social media, reporting wildfires and other local news stories.

Flagstaff police did not provide any additional information regarding the incident, but they were scheduled to release a statement. Zorn was booked last Thursday evening, according to the Coconino County Jail Reservation Report.

On Monday afternoon, Cuff posted a statement on social media about Zorn’s arrest.

“As soon as Cuff learns of Dave Zone’s arrest, he is placed on a management leave and we have deactivated access to facilities, social media and electronic platforms. There is no further details at this time. Cuff’s news team will continue to actively deal with the situation as more information becomes available.

As of Monday, Zorn was still listed as news director on the station’s website.

Zorn was also a part-time faculty member in the Department of Communications at Northern Arizona University.

“Now is aware of Zone’s arrest and can confirm that he is teaching journalism classes as a part-time temporary employee,” says Kim Ott, NAU’s vice president of communications. “To ensure continuity in student learning and progress, his class was reassigned to another instructor for the rest of the semester. Mr. Zone was removed from any work related to the university.”

At the time of his arrest, Zorn had taught presentations and presented his skills at NAU’s communication school. He taught his class last fall.

Zone is a graduate of Northern Arizona University and St. John’s High School in Apache County.

Inviting minors for sexual exploitation is an Arizona class triple felony, which will result in a fine of up to 15 years in prison.

Zorn’s arrest has not been held yet.
