Flagstaff bus in sinkhole had no children on board, deputies said

Flagstaff, Arizona—A photo of the scene where a Flagstaff school bus nearly fell into a sinkhole early Friday morning.

pitcure shared on 12News Weather Watchers page and by Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, showing a sinkhole in the back half of a bus traveling on Slayton Ranch Road near Donny Park. The bus sat precariously on the water with its rear tires moving rapidly.

An agent confirmed the bus was stuck over the pit, but no children were on board.The only passengers were the bus driver.

Authorities are not aware of the exact size of the sinkhole.

“Slayton Ranch Road has been closed indefinitely while Flagstaff Unified School District and Coconino County officials assess the situation,” the school district said.

No injuries were reported at the scene.
