Winning is always great, but doing so behind a season high score is even better (please ask Flagstaff). They were clear winners at the 24-2 margin of Moharb Thunderbird on Saturday. The victory continues to trend for the Eagles against the Thunderbirds. They have now won nine consecutive times.
Connor Smith splashed as he hit and pitched. On the mound, he pitched two innings, giving up on the runs and hits he had acquired. He’s consistent lately. He has not given more than one appearance in three consecutive years. He also went 2-2 with two runs, one triple and two RBIs, stiff to the batter’s box. These two runs gave him a new career best.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brody Johnson. Additionally, he posted three RBIs he had in April 2024. The team also got help courtesy of Will Carpenter, who went 3-for-3 on one triple, one stolen base and one run.
Flagstaff always had someone on the base and ended the game by posting an OBP .658. Mohave only posted .214 OBPs, so they easily outperformed the opponents of that division.
Flagstaff’s record is currently 9-5. As for Mohave, they’ve been struggling lately as they lost seven of their last eight contests. This puts a notable dent in the 5-10 record this season.
The team didn’t have to wait long for the rematch. Flagstaff defeated Mojave with an 11-1 score later that day.
