Flagstaff has a 10-0 record against Mingus recently and will look to add to its winning streak on Monday. The Flagstaff Eagles are on the road to take on the Mingus Marauders at 6 p.m. Flagstaff will be looking to build on its third straight road victory.
Flagstaff enters the contest fresh off its biggest win since Oct. 9 on Wednesday. They hurt Mojave with a 3-0 victory.
One of the reasons for the win was that Flagstaff continued to improve, winning each set by more points than the last. In the end, the final scores were 25-16, 25-10, and 25-8.
Meanwhile, Mingus hasn’t had a great record lately against Lee Williams (2-7 in his last nine meetings), but he didn’t let his past get in the way on Wednesday. Mingus won in sets, fending off Lee Williams 3-2.
Mingus got off to a slow start but finished hot. After dropping the first two sets, he came back and won the next three. The match ended with set scores 19-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-13.
Mingus credits much of their success to Megan Clough, who had 24 digs.
Flagstaff has been on a roll lately. They have won 20 of their past 21 games, improving on their 30-2 record this season. As for Mingus, his record was 11 wins and 15 losses.
Flagstaff won 3-0 in the last game against Mingus in September, and all was well. The rematch could be a little tougher for Flagstaff since the team doesn’t have home court advantage this time. Let’s see if changing the venue makes a difference.
