On Monday, Flagstaff needed a bit of extra time to clean up the Deer Valley. They were just enough and kicked the Skyhawks out 5-4.

Cailee Culwell spent all eight innings on the mound, and it’s clear why. She surrendered four runes with 11 hits and scored 9 Ks.

On the hit side, the team relied heavily on Tatum Alex. Tatum Alex fired two home runs and three RBIs based on all four plate appearances. These two home runs gave her a new career best.

Meanwhile, Prescott got on the board against Westview on Monday, but Westview never followed suit. They were clear winners of the Order with an 18-0 margin. The victory was a much-needed relief for the Badgers as it marked the end of a three-game losing streak.

Gracie Pereira made a splash wherever she played. She didn’t allow one run to win, and only allowed two hits while hitting five or more innings. She only had something to trust on the mound. She has not given up on more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter’s box, running 4-4.

In other batting news, Lily James was outstanding. She went for a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple and two RBIs. That triple marked her first hit of the season. Hailey James was another key player, earning three runs, 3-for-3.

Prescott kept the outfield on his toes and finished the game with 17 hits. It’s a new trend for them. They averaged 4.1 hits per game in the first half of the season, but averaged 10 in their last 15 games.

Flagstaff’s victory was the fifth straight in the fifth straight that pushed their record to 12-6-1. They averaged 12.0 runs in those games, so thanks to their hit performances in that stretch, the road victory came. As for Prescott, their victory smashed the record to 5-9.

Tuesday’s game will be a test for pitchers from both teams. Flagstaff hasn’t had any issues contacting us this season, but his batting average is .345.
