Flagstaff man arrested after wife goes missing, police say

Police say Kelly Padukowski's vehicle was found Sunday at the Campbell Mesa Trailhead.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Flagstaff police say they have arrested the husband of a woman who has been missing since Sunday.

Kelly Padukowski, 45, was last seen around 1:30pm on Sunday when she left her home to go for a run and swim. Police revealed this. When she had not been heard from by around 7:40 pm that day, her family called the police.

Police said Padukowski's white Mazda CX-5 was found at the Campbell Mesa Trailhead, but she is still missing.

Since then, the Flagstaff Police Department and the Coconino County Sheriff's Office and Rescue Squad have continued to search for Padukowski.

After interviewing family members and witnesses and reviewing evidence during the investigation, Flagstaff Police arrested Kelly Padukowski's husband, Daniel Padukowski, 58, on suspicion of assault, authorities said.

Police did not say what evidence they had against suspect Daniel Padukowski or other details about the arrest.

“The investigation is ongoing and our top priority is locating Kelly,” the Flagstaff Police Department said in a statement.

Kelly Padukowski was last seen wearing black shorts, a gray shirt and white running shoes. She is 5'8″, weighs 138 lbs, has blonde hair and blue eyes.
