The City of Flagstaff is excited to announce that Lee Williams has been appointed as the new director of water services.
Lee has dedicated 13 years to the Water Services department in Flagstaff and previously held the position of Director of the Water Operations Section.
Before assuming this role, he worked as an operational supervisor and factory operator in the public sector, and he also spent six years teaching. Additionally, he has four years of experience in the private industry. Lee earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and mathematics and is certified in water treatment, distribution, wastewater treatment, and collections.
“We had two outstanding candidates for this critical position. The selection process involved three independent panels and community engagements. We are happy with the decision and thrilled to welcome Lee to Flagstaff’s leadership team.”
Mayor Greg Clifton expressed enthusiasm, stating, “I’m really looking forward to having Lee in this vital role. His technical expertise is impressive. He learns quickly, and his leadership style, combined with his approachable demeanor, will benefit the water service team and the entire organization. Congratulations, Mr. Williams!”
Lee has resided in Flagstaff with his family for over 13 years and is an alumnus of Northern Arizona University.
He is eager to collaborate with the skilled staff in Water Services and aims to make a positive, direct impact on the community.
“Flagstaff has made great strides in adopting innovative practices for water use, reuse, and treatment, and we have a unique opportunity to continue exploring innovations in the future. I see my role as a steward for our city and its water system,” Lee remarked.
