Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG) has announced the introduction of a new paid parking system with the opening of economy lots. The additional parking capacity aims to provide a smoother and more convenient experience for travelers, providing ample parking spaces and affordable rates. The opening of additional economy lots will more than double airport parking.
The newly opened economy lot has 413 additional parking spaces, effectively addressing previous restrictions experienced during peak travel times. Travelers can easily find parking on arrival, alleviating concerns about availability. As part of FLG’s efforts to keep transportation costs low, parking is free for the first he hour, followed by a nominal charge of $2 for each hour thereafter. His maximum daily rate for economy lots is set at $6, while terminal lots are priced at $8 per day. Economy lots are priced at $36 per week, while terminal lots are priced at $48.
Proceeds from the pay parking system will be used to pay off the debt for the construction of new parking lots as well as for ongoing operations and maintenance needs. Card payments are accepted both at the payment kiosks inside the terminals and at the car park exits. Parking enforcement is managed by ParkFlag.
Airport Director Brian Gull expressed his enthusiasm for the new parking system, stating: Parking spaces were limited and not always found during peak travel times. The system will allow the construction of new economy lots, more than doubling the previous parking capacity and facilitating smooth use by travelers. Keeping parking costs low is important to us, and with affordable rates, flying out of Flagstaff remains the most convenient option for travelers in northern Arizona. ”
The introduction of the pay parking system will coincide with the reopening of the runway at Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, which was scheduled to be closed from midnight July 9, 2023 to midnight July 15, 2023 for runway pavement maintenance. This pavement maintenance work was completed in collaboration with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) Airport Pavement Management System Program. The work was completed several hours ahead of schedule and the runway reopened on the afternoon of July 15. Regular sealing and maintenance are essential to ensure the longevity of asphalt surfaces.
