Flagstaff United Soccer Club set for first regional after successful fundraiser

The Flagstaff-based youth soccer team continues its historic season next weekend.

The Flagstaff United Soccer Club (FSC) U14 Women’s Team will start in Boise, Idaho on June 23 after winning their first ever prestigious club soccer tournament, the Arizona State Cup, in April.・I plan to play in the regionals.

But we believe that what makes players, coaches and families more memorable than playing on the field is fundraising for FSC.

The Far West Regional Convention is a seven-day tournament in which each girl and her family must pay for all travel, food, and hotel costs in order to play. In total, the team raised about $18,000 through shirt sales, knocking on business doors, and all manner of other fundraising efforts.

The numbers far exceed team members’ expectations and will help enable each player’s participation.

Misty Welker, the team’s mother and one of the parents who led the fundraiser, said: “It’s so amazing to see a team of 16 girls come together. The whole community is doing well. They supported us,” he said.

FSC will face the top teams from each province in the region from 23 June. A win would advance the team to its first national tournament.
