Flight From NY To India Diverted To Rome Over ‘Security Issue,’ Escorted By Fighter Jets

According to ABC News, an Indian-bound American Airlines flight from New York has been repurposed to Rome due to “possible security issues.”

Flight 292 safely landed at Leonardo Da Vincy Roma Fium Sino Airport early Sunday after departing from John F. Kennedy International Airport at Rome Airport Confirmed To ABC.

Officials in the incident told ABC that they received the bomb threat via email but were deemed unfounded. Flight Radar 24 reported in X that the plane was repurposed “following the threat of flying bombs.”

“Safety and security are our number one priority and we appreciate the understanding of our customers,” the airline said in a statement to the outlet.

Flight information from Fly Rader 24 show The plane took off at 8:30pm on Saturday and turned near Turkmenistan around 7am before landing in Rome after 11am on Sunday.

Indian authorities claimed that the plane would be inspected before it arrived in New Delhi, officials told ABC.

Passengers reportedly were bused to the terminal for screening as the aircraft was set up to be inspected.

The repurposement comes from a series of reported aviation accidents. Delta Air Line Plane, which travels from Minneapolis on February 21, collided at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The aircraft turned its back upside down while landing. All those on board were brought to life with some injuries.

American Airlines flights and military helicopters collided at Washington, Reagan National Airport on January 29th, with no survivors. The two aircraft collided into the air, and American Airlines flights approached the runway around 9pm local time.

The daily caller contacted American Airlines for comments, but received no response.
