PHOENIX — Graham County is finally starting to decline as the end of the flu season approaches.
According to the Arizona Department of Health, no new cases were reported in the week of March 5 and only one in the week before February 26.
Graham County has had 512 flu cases so far this season. That’s almost double his five-year average of 232 for this time of the flu season.
Of the total cases so far in Graham County, 468 have been influenza A, 26 have been influenza B, and the remaining 18 have not yet been confirmed.
Graham County reportedly sees most cases in school-age children, with 34% affecting children ages 5 to 18. Twenty-nine percent of cases involved adults between her ages 18 and 49, and infants accounted for 14% of cases. Older adults in Graham County — ages 50 to 64 and her 65+ — each account for 11% of cases.
In Greenlee County, AZDHS has reported 274 flu cases so far this season, which is 328% above the five-year average.
A total of 269 cases in Greenlee County were influenza A, 3 were influenza B, and the remaining 2 were unknown.
School-age children aged 5–18 account for 42% of cases in Greenlee County, followed by adults aged 19–49 with 30%, infants with 14%, adults aged 50–64 with 8%, and adults aged 65–65. That’s 6%.
