Former investment banker Carol Ross on Monday night slammed Vice President Kamala Harris as another “puppet” and said the U.S. “literally cannot afford” to continue with the same economic policies as President Joe Biden for the next four years.
Ross appeared on Fox Business' “The Evening Edit” to discuss the messaging Republicans should send as they address how a Biden-Harris administration would impact Americans' wallets. In response to a question from Fox host Elizabeth MacDonald about Harris' economic policy stance, Ross claimed Democrats were trying to replace Harris with Biden as a “puppet,” but said economic policy “won't change.” (Related article: It turns out the Biden administration's economy hasn't “healed” after all)
“Does it take an extraordinary level of denial to go through four more years of what we've been through? Kamala has zero policies on her website, no Democratic primary pollsters, zero interviews, her last press interview was eight months ago. What do you think?” McDonald asked.
“It's like believing in a magic unicorn, and I think David is absolutely right when he says the message needs to be strong and we need to look back at what's happened over the last three and a half years under the Biden-Harris administration and say, 'We know Joe Biden hasn't been running the country this time. There are puppeteers. The puppets have changed, but the policies are still the same.' So which is better: the pre-COVID situation under the Trump administration, or the post-COVID situation under the Biden-Harris administration?” Ross responded.
clock:
According to an August poll by the Financial Times and the University of Michigan, Americans trust Harris by one percentage point over former President Donald Trump in who they can manage the economy, but nearly half of those surveyed still believe the Biden administration would “hurt the economy” through its policies. But 42% of voters still believe the economy would improve if Trump were re-elected, while 38% say the economy would be “worse” if Harris wins.
“Because we're going to have the same policies and so forth. I saw a poll today and 59% of Americans believe we're in a recession. And that's because ordinary Americans are in a personal recession. They're going to be in debt and they're not going to be able to save. Why would we vote for another four years of that? That message needs to be sent loud and clear,” Ross continued. “Americans literally cannot afford another four years of the same policies.”
Assert release A late July poll found that three in five of 2,000 people believe the U.S. is in a recession, though no recession has been declared.
