Fmr Democratic Senator Melts Down, Says Deportations Will Cripple Higher Ed, Threaten US ‘Peace And Prosperity’

Former Democrat Minnesota Sen. Claire McCaskill said on Thursday at MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House” that certain deportation methods could cripple higher education and threaten “peace and prosperity” in the United States.

Over the weekend, President Donald Trump tightened his administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration, calling the 1798 alien enemy law, Venezuelan gangster Tren de Aragua, a member suspected of being subject to immediate arrest and removal. While discussing the New York Times Report Administrative authorities have questioned McCaskill about Trump’s use of power, claiming federal agents can enter suspected gang members homes under the law without a warrant. “Well, it would be interesting to see how the American public, especially Republicans, are so worried. I mean, I’m in a pretty red state.

“They don’t want government in their lives. They don’t want government in their property. They don’t want government in their property. They don’t want anything to do with the government being able to undermine their ability to own property or guns,” added McAskill. “There’s a government here that says you can walk homes without a warrant. That’s pretty bold. Let’s also mention the impact this has on higher education.”

Since calling the wartime law, Trump’s Department of Justice and US District Judge James E. Boasberg have been going back and forth in court over a temporary suspension of Trump’s deportation. On Saturday, more than 200 gang immigrants were deported to El Salvador. Boasberg issued a temporary suspension, but his final written order did not specify that planes already in the air should be retracted, resulting in three planes where immigrants left.

The NYT recently reported that a source familiar with internal debate claimed that officials had discovered an unnamed option. However, the outlet said it is unclear whether the Trump administration will actually use it.

McCaskill went on to do what Americans “need to understand” that one of the reasons why Americans are “the most powerful and wealthy country” is due to the “higher education system” and that they are attracting the “best mind” from around the world.

“We are basically protecting higher education, so great minds can make great discoveries and find great progress and prosperity,” McCaskill said. “We are sending messages to other parts of the world. “Don’t come here. Don’t come here. If you are from a foreign country, we don’t want you to be involved in our higher education. We don’t want your heart. We certainly don’t want you in our country.”

“It will have a dramatic effect on the peace and prosperity of this country for all Americans. If this is not reversed, it will happen over the next few decades,” added McAskill.
