Mayoral Transition Team Formed by Nick Deltzis
On Thursday, Nick Deltzis announced plans to establish a transition team that will lay the groundwork for his administration and outline a clear vision for Hoover.
The transition initiative aims to unite a varied group of leaders from business, education, public safety, economic development, and community life, all of whom are dedicated to serving the city and its residents.
“We’re eager to introduce this impressive group of individuals who will guide Hoover through this crucial transition,” Deltzis stated.
“Every member brings valuable expertise and a genuine commitment to our community, showcasing Hoover’s strengths from educational institutions to local businesses and civic organizations.”
The team will concentrate on several critical areas: education and workforce development, public safety, economic growth, infrastructure, financial responsibility, parks and recreation, and overall quality of life. Their efforts are aimed at ensuring the new administration is well-prepared from day one, delivering effective service to Hoover’s residents.
The group held its inaugural meeting on Wednesday, September 3rd, and is already actively working to set a solid foundation for a smooth start to the new administration.
- Chairman Michael J. Davis will lead the transition team, with BJ Ellis serving as vice-president. Legal counsel will come from Charlie Waldrep.
- Kermit Kendrick heads the Education and Workforce Development Committee, alongside Dr. Jennifer Hogan, Craig Kelly, Dr. Tyler Burgess, and Elizabeth Tanner.
- The Public Safety and Urban Services Commission will be directed by Frank Barfield, supported by Craig Caldwell and Allen Putty.
- Don Irwin chairs the Economic Development Committee in collaboration with Greg Barker, Commissioner Mike Bolin, and Alan Puckett.
- Scott Promer will oversee the Water and Transportation Infrastructure Committee, working with Lanier Brown and Dewayne Smith.
- Melinda Lopez will lead the Transparency, Risk, and Financial Accountability Committee, with backing from Steve Lawrence and Frank Long.
- Pete Derzis and Craig Moss will co-chair the Sports, Tourism, Parks, and Recreation Committee alongside Tynette Lynch and Greg Blackman.
- David Bannister will guide the Quality of Life, Beautification, and Civic Engagement Committee, with support from David Cohen, Glenn Dauro, Sanjay Patel, Kim Sterling, Scott Underwood, and Ralph Williams.
The transition team has indicated that Deltzis will officially assume office on Monday, November 3rd.
