Foo Fighters Will Reportedly Donate Royalties From Trump’s Use Of Hit Song To Harris-Walz Campaign

Foo Fighters will reportedly donate royalties from 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's use of their hit song “My Hero” on Friday to the Harris Waltz campaign.

Kennedy, a former independent candidate for the 2024 presidential election, accompanied Trump to a campaign rally in Phoenix, Arizona, and made her debut on stage as the Republican candidate's special guest on Friday, singing songs by Foo Fighters.

The band initially took a stance against the Trump campaign's use of their song on Friday, sharing screenshots of an exchange with another X user: When asked if they had given permission for “My Hero” to be performed at a Trump rally, Foo Fighters' official X account responded, “No.”

“We want to be clear,” the band wrote to X.

The Foo Fighters claim that they were “never asked for permission” by the Trump campaign and “would not have given permission if they had been asked,” a representative for the band said. “We have permission to perform the song,” a Trump campaign spokesman told the outlet.

“In times like these, facts don't matter, don't be a hypocrite,” Trump spokesman Stephen Chang wrote to X, along with a screenshot of the Independent article.

A Foo Fighters spokesperson told the outlet that “appropriate action is being taken” with the Trump campaign.

Kennedy announced his campaign stop on Friday afternoon in Glendale, Arizona, and blasted Democrats for endorsing Trump. Trump praised Kennedy as “incredible” and an “incredible man” before stepping back to hand the podium to Kennedy.

The Foo Fighters are not the first band to criticize Trump for using their music: Singer Celine Dion slammed the former president for playing her hit song “My Heart Will Go On” at a rally in Bozeman, Montana, in early August.

Artists upset about the Trump campaign using their music at rallies and other events include Rihanna, Axl Rose, the Rolling Stones and Neil Young. The Hollywood Reporter.
