Food bank to host Hope and Health Fair | News

debtOothills Food Bank, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving families in need in the North Valley, will host its second Hope and Health Fair at its Black Canyon City location.

On Saturday, April 15th, the charity is conducting health checks, vaccinations and blood pressure checks. Food and drink are sold, and games are available for children.

The Hope and Health Fair “will be bigger and better this year,” said Leigh Zydonik, executive director of Foothills Food Bank.

“This year, we have over 14 vendors,” she said.

“We are partnering with Yavapai County Health again and will be suspending some services. We are partnering with the Daisy Mountain Fire Department to check car seats. There are organizations coming in to do child identification.”

Other community partners include Kiwanis of the Greater Anthem Area and Sonoran Prevention, an organization focused on helping drug addicts.

The Foothills Food Bank hosts a variety of programs throughout the year to expand outreach to the community apart from the regular offering of food baskets, hygiene products and financial assistance.

The Hope and Health Fair is “one of many programs. We do adoptions, holiday meals, empty bowl fundraising, and it’s just good for health,” Zydonik says. said.

Foothills Food Bank has offices in Cave Creek, Black Canyon City, and New River, offering services and programs.

“We have three community food pantries, and our main job is to deliver food and feed people,” says Zydonik. “Each of these pantries is a client-choice pantry, which means clients can come in and pick the items they want.”

Clients can choose from a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, pastries, breads and canned goods. Additionally, Foothills Food Bank is Leah’s Pantry Gold Star certified for its nutrition pantry program.

“We are the only[food pantry]in Arizona to be Gold Certified,” said Zydonik.

Free services and assistance are available to everyone at the Health and Hope Fair.
