Food trucks are open despite heat

YUMA, AZ (KYMA, KECY) – Temperatures are hitting triple digits in the southwestern desert and are not preventing food trucks from serving local customers.

Still, working in such tight spaces can present some challenges.

There are many food trucks in Yuma, so it is common for locals to buy lunch from food trucks.

The local family who run the food truck are fully equipped with air conditioning and fans to combat the heat.

Three generations of women work the truck daily to serve the freshest seafood dishes.

Kenya Patino, the youngest member of the group, said they start the day early.

“It’s very hot right now, so we’ll get a table and shade first,” explained Patino.

Food trucks have changed hours this summer in response to extreme heat and to keep everyone safe.

The heat has changed a few things, especially when it comes to customers.

“Most of our customers are too hot to go outside,” Patino said.

Mariscos El Rey is open Monday through Saturday from 9am to 2pm.
