Forestry Association endorses Jeana Ross in House District 27


The Alabama Forestry Association (AFA) announced its endorsement of Gina Ross in the special election for Alabama House District 27, which covers part of Marshall County.

Ross is a lifelong resident of Marshall County. She and her husband currently live in Guntersville. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama.

Ross began her 26-year career in public education in 1975 as an elementary school classroom teacher in Jackson County and, after taking time off to start a family, later moved into administration for the Marshall, Boaz City, and Madison County school systems. I moved to work. . She currently serves as a consultant in early education policy and practice.

Ross is a leader in promoting Alabama's preschool programs. She served as Secretary of the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education in the cabinets of two governors, during which time Ross expanded Alabama's First Class Preschool Program to all 67 counties in 2020, increasing the number of classrooms from 217 to 1,350. Increased. She served in this position from her 2012 until her retirement in 2020 and was recognized as the nation's best preschool program, her 14th in the state. consecutive years.
