Forestry Association supports Jack Williams for the position of agriculture commissioner

Senator Jack Williams Endorsed as Next Agriculture and Industry Commissioner

The Alabama Forestry Association (AFA) has given its support to Alabama Senator Jack Williams for the role of Agriculture and Industry Commissioner.

Williams has been serving Senate District 34 since 2018 and currently holds the position of vice-chairman on both the Senate Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee as well as the Banking Insurance Committee. His district encompasses portions of Mobile County. Prior to his Senate role, he was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives.

“Jack has truly distinguished himself as a champion for the rural community in Alabama,” stated Chris Isaacson, the president and CEO of AFA. “His dedication to the forestry sector is evident, and we appreciate how tirelessly he advocates for our interests. We are excited to endorse him for this important position and look forward to enhancing the role of forestry in these communities.”

During the recent legislative meeting, Williams introduced a bill aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of transporting wood to plants that produce forest products. This initiative received praise from AFA, which sees it as a positive move towards reducing regulatory challenges and boosting competitiveness for landowners, loggers, and manufacturers in Alabama.

“I feel honored and humbled to have the endorsement of the Alabama Forestry Association,” Williams remarked. “As a timber owner, I understand the significant role the timber industry plays in our state, the jobs it generates, and the families it supports. I also recognize the hurdles that unfair regulations can create in this sector.”

He added, “As I seek the position of Alabama Agriculture and Industry Commissioner, I will strive to minimize and remove needless regulations that obstruct this industry. Once elected, I will remain committed to supporting hardworking loggers, landowners, and timber producers.”

Alongside his wife, Bobby, Williams manages operations involving cows, wood, and hay production, while also running a prominent childcare business and engaging in various family farming activities.

Williams is vying for the Republican nomination for Agriculture and Industry Commissioner, with the primary election set for Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
