According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Barrow, whose real name is Jamal Michael Barrow, became a politician and opposition leader in the Belize House of Representatives and a key member of the Belize United Democratic Party.
He told Channel 5 that the night of the shooting changed the trajectory of his life. According to THR, Combs reportedly smacked a drink out of someone's hand after someone threw money at him, sparking an altercation that led to a shootout that left three people injured. Barrow was charged with assault and sentenced to 10 years in prison in June 2001. He had recently released his debut album and was on the brink of major success, THR noted.
“Let's not lose sight of the cold hard facts: this is not someone who has holidayed with me, this is not someone who has enjoyed this wonderful, close brotherly relationship with me,” Barrow told Channel 5.
