Former Walmart employee formally charged

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A former Walmart employee accused of taking photos under two women's dresses while on the job appeared in court Friday and was formally charged.

Richard Solorio, 20, was charged with two counts of voyeurism.

“The document indicates that the crime occurred on or about February 20, 2024. It also names two alleged victims and specifically mentions consent. “This is an unauthorized photograph,” Justice Gregory Stewart said.

The incident happened Tuesday at a Walmart on Avenue B near 24th Street, where police said the undercover photo was taken.

“Don't go to crime scenes. If you remember I restricted people from going back to all Walmart stores,” Stewart said.

Police said both victims were women in their 40s, and Matthew Sears, a local Walmart shopper, spoke out after hearing the heinous act, saying: “This act is absolutely abhorrent. In this day and age, privacy is respected.'' “This is a blatant act.” Being ignored is infuriating. ”

Solorio is being held in the Yuma County Jail on $25,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court on March 1 for a preliminary hearing.
