A 53-year-old man was sentenced in court Friday after a Pinal County jury found him guilty of multiple sex crimes.
PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. — A former foster parent was sentenced Friday to 218 years in prison after a woman in his care exposed issues about the defendant.
Francisco Medina, 53, was convicted of multiple sex crimes against minors after his former foster child revealed that he had abused her in the 1990s.
According to the Pinal County Attorney's Office, the woman told investigators that Medina would come into her bedroom at night and sexually assault her.
During Friday's sentencing hearing, the victim told the court that Medina was “pure evil” and detailed the emotional pain she had endured as a result of the abuse.
“We hope this outcome provides some closure for the victims and helps them heal,” Pinal County Attorney Kent Volkmer said in a statement. “I don't understand what she had to go through, but I admire her strength and her courage in holding her perpetrators accountable.”
Medina is already serving a life sentence in Pima County, Arizona, for abusing another child in his custody.
