Graham County – Liberty Salazar, 21, is a special needs woman from Safford who has autism and has been missing since January 23, according to Graham County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff McCormies. It turned out to be safe in Texas.
Salar’s family has been notified of her whereabouts and is now reading aloud with her daughter.
A candlelight rally scheduled for Thursday night at the Graham County Chamber of Commerce has been cancelled. It was a vigil to call attention to the missing persons struggle and the search for Salazar. The first vigil was held on Saturday and focused on faith, hope and perseverance. If you would like to see speeches about guardians and missing Indigenous women, the first memorial service can be found on her Facebook page at Looking for Liberty Salazar.
Salazar went missing after playing in the snow outside. Her bicycle was found down the road from her house.
A press release will be issued after the family is reunited.
