Free tax-prep help available in Tucson

Low- to moderate-income taxpayers can receive free income tax assistance and free filing through programs sponsored by the United Way of Tucson, Southern Arizona, and Pima County.

United Way has partnered with Catholic Community Services to set up several face-to-face sites to provide online help and other options such as filing under Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).

Vita provides free tax return preparation and filing assistance to taxpayers who earn up to $73,000 annually.

United Way opened 10 VITA tax preparation locations throughout Tucson in late January.

United Way also partners with Pima County to offer Valet VITA. This allows taxpayers to submit paperwork to the county’s Kino One Stop Service Center (2797 E. Ajo Way) to review and approve returns by text or email.

Local taxpayers can also contact VITA volunteers for assistance. GetYourRefund.org/uwtsaor use the free do-it-yourself software found here: UnitedWayTucson.org/FreeFile.
